Frequently Asked Questions

Common Side Effects:
Redness (erythema), Swelling (edema), Pain or tenderness, and Dark spots.

Burns & Scarring:
Excessive heat from continuous or poorly managed RF energy can cause burns, leading to scars or permanent skin discoloration.
Fat Loss/Disfigurement:
In some cases, RF treatments, particularly RF microneedling, have led to significant fat loss, creating depressions or disfigurement.

Nerve Damage:
Improper application carries a risk of nerve damage.
RF skin tightening is contraindicated for those who are pregnant, breastfeeding, have metal implants (pacemakers, pins, plates) in the treatment area, have active infections, open wounds, or certain skin/autoimmune conditions (lupus, eczema, rosacea), or have blood clotting disorders,
as the heat energy can interfere with devices or worsen conditions. Other key contraindications include severe heart/kidney/liver issues, recent cosmetic injectables (wait 2-4 weeks), and use of isotretinoin recently.
Depending on the strength of the treatment, clients may require 3 or more treatments to see visible results. We advise all our clients that no two individuals are the same, and some skin may accept the treatment quicker than others – so the amount of sessions required will vary from person to person.

Avoid doing anything that will irritate the skin on the day of treatment, including long exposure in direct sunlight or UV. If you happen to get sunburnt prior to your scheduled treatment, please call the clinic and our nurses will be able to assist you in booking an appointment at a later date. Female clients will also find that their skin is more sensitive to treatment just before or during their menstrual cycle, so we advise clients to consider this prior to arranging their appointment.

Apart from experiencing a minor sunburnt look, most clients find that they are able to return to work and their life activities straight away.

All treatments at our clinic follow strict safety and consent protocols. During your consultation, your cosmetic nurse will discuss suitability, potential side effects and recovery time in person. This allows you to make an informed decision about your treatment.

Warning:

Individual results may vary. All cosmetic procedures carry risks which need to be discussed with a cosmetic nurse. It is always recommended to also seek a second opinion from a qualified health practitioner.
