Treatments available at our Adelaide clinic include brows, lips, eyeliner, and hairline applications.
Cosmetic tattoo contraindications include being pregnant/breastfeeding, having certain medical conditions (diabetes, autoimmune disorders, heart issues, keloid scarring, bleeding disorders, epilepsy, HIV, Hepatitis), using specific medications (Accutane, blood thinners, Retin-A, steroids), recent chemotherapy/radiotherapy, or active skin infections/conditions (dermatitis, eczema, sunburn) in the area, all of which increase risks like infection, poor healing, or scarring. Clients with some conditions may need doctor’s clearance or temporary postponement.
Cosmetic tattoo risks include infections (bacterial/viral), allergic reactions, scarring (especially keloids) and pigment issues like fading, fanning, or colour shifts, often from poor hygiene or unsuitable pigments, with potential severe complications like granulomas, MRI interference. Proper artist certification, sterile equipment, good aftercare, and disclosing health conditions are crucial to minimise these dangers.
An eyebrow tattoo typically takes 4 to 6 weeks to fully heal, though the surface skin often looks healed within 1-2 weeks, with scabbing and peeling. The full healing involves deeper skin layers, with colour settling in the first few weeks and the final, softer look appearing around week 4-6, often requiring a touch-up appointment. Proper aftercare, like keeping the area clean and moisturized (but not wet) and avoiding sun exposure, is crucial.
Eyebrow tattoo aftercare involves gentle cleaning, applying a thin ointment and avoiding water, sweat, sun, and makeup on the brows for the first 7-10 days.
Allowing scabs to fall off naturally to prevent colour loss and scarring; expect darkening and itching as they heal, but resist picking or scratching. Always follow your instructions, the core rules are keeping them clean, moisturised and protected from trauma.
